Open House Fundraiser At The Jimmy Hill (Purple) House
Also known as "The Purple House", Jimmy Hill House provides Ann Arbor's homeless community with warm showers, laundry machines, a dry place to sleep at night. It also serves as a communal space for the community to come together to combat homelessness. The house is in need of renovations in order to continue to serve, and FDBR is stepping in to help by funding and managing some major projects this summer.
Our top priority is to address water issues at the house. This starts with a new roof to patch & repair leaks and is the first step in sealing up the building envelope. Next, as funds allow, we need to address the leaky toilets & showers in the two main bathrooms. A critical function of this house is to provide warm showers to the community in the colder months.
Forward Design Build is bringing our expertise, creativity, knowledge, and collaboration with industry partners and A2 MISSION to help make a big impact in the daily experience of this haven. Our goal is to help Jimmy Hill House become a more comfortable, warm, dry, and safe haven for people experiencing homelessness in our community. We are looking to our own network to help raise additional funds to improve the conditions at The Purple House. Please join us for ice cream and a walkthrough to see our Pay It Forward 2024 initiative first hand.
Please note that there will be no bathrooms available for public use at this event.
