Forward Design Build Featured in BRAG Fall 2020 Showcase

The Builders & Remodelers Association of Greater Ann Arbor (BRAG) hosted live and virtual tours recently of our area's finest newly constructed and renovated homes. While home styles and homeowners vary greatly, each featured project shows exceptional attention to detail and superior design. It’s truly an honor, and this year that honor is double for Forward Design Build Remodel, since two of our recently renovated homes were selected! Let’s get to know one of them, a fresh and fantastic remodel right here in Ann Arbor.

Crisp, Clean Kitchen

We’re frequently included in lists of the top local kitchen remodelers, and this kitchen illustrates why. Medium blue cabinets like these are trending right now, as homeowners seek an alternative to the farmhouse style that has dominated kitchen trends for a long time. The homeowners sought a style refresh, and this kitchen accomplishes that in a way feels both current and timeless, as well as instantly uplifting.

Open, Airy (and Very Safe) Staircase

Showcase participants were also impressed by the open staircase. Using minimalist black rails and sleek wood feels airy, while the uniquely bent handrail offers significant sturdiness and stability.

Modern Mud & Laundry Room

Laundry rooms are rarely guest hotspots, but it’s easy to see why this mudroom/laundry room combo was a frequent favorite on the tour. With a place for everything and everything in its place, this is a busy family must-have.

Pocketed Powder Room

This powder room was actually made smaller — not a typical request, but one that left plenty more space for other rooms without sacrificing comfort. A pocket door was used for space efficiency, and the raw-edge vanity adds elegance and style.

Bright, Beautiful Basement

Our video tour ends in the basement, where guests are greeted with a bright, open, and minimalist style that imparts a feeling of serenity. The guest bath again makes the most of space, opening into a walk-in shower and echoing the color and line scheme found in the kitchen. A benefit of doing multiple rooms at once is how design elements can be integrated holistically throughout the home.
